mini-review

Shot quickly and cheaply, Detour feels raw and almost accidental — which enhances its fatalistic power. The performances are uneven, the sets minimal, but the mood is pure doom. The protagonist’s narration frames the story as one long complaint against fate. It’s scrappy noir, stripped of polish but rich in atmosphere.

Lower expectations.

Appreciating rough edges.

Letting fatalism sink in.

Absurdist's Corner

A series of catastrophes unfold because one man decided to thumb a ride.
