mini-review
Minimalist, stylized neo-noir. Nicolas Winding Refn leans into silence, neon, and sudden brutality. Ryan Gosling plays the Driver as a near-mythic figure — soft-spoken but explosively violent. The film prioritizes mood over plot, and that works — mostly. It’s cool, yes, but sometimes deliberately so. Not a masterpiece, but undeniably atmospheric.
