synopsis

When a renowned game designer becomes the target of an assassination attempt, she and a reluctant marketing trainee dive into her newest virtual world — only to question which layer of reality they’re actually inhabiting.

This is Cronenberg in full body-horror tech mode. Slick cyberpunk this is not. Everything feels moist, biological, and faintly disgusting. The film plays with simulation layers years before that became mainstream pop philosophy, but instead of sleek leather and kung fu, we get fleshy consoles and bone guns. It’s clever, unsettling, occasionally campy, and distinctly off-center. Not elite — but unforgettable.
