synopsis
Rather than telling a single story, Fantasia presents a series of animated segments set to famous pieces of classical music. Conducted by Leopold Stokowski and performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra, the film blends music and animation into imaginative visual interpretations ranging from dancing mushrooms and hippos to mythological battles between good and evil.

mini-review
Produced by Walt Disney, Fantasia was one of the most ambitious animated experiments ever attempted. The film abandons conventional storytelling in favor of pure artistic expression, turning classical compositions into elaborate animated spectacles. Some segments are playful and whimsical, while others—like “Night on Bald Mountain”—are dark and haunting. Though risky for its time, the film has become one of Disney’s most celebrated artistic achievements.
A quiet evening, dim lighting, and appreciation for animation as pure visual music.
Absurdist's Corner
In one segment, elegant ballet dancers are portrayed by giant cartoon hippos wearing tutus, which somehow works beautifully.
