mini-review

A strange tonal cocktail: romance, thriller, supernatural fantasy, and pottery-wheel sensuality. It’s earnest — sometimes almost embarrassingly so — but that sincerity is why it works. The emotional through-line lands. And Whoopi Goldberg’s performance prevents it from drowning in melodrama.

A thunderstorm. Someone you once loved. Or nostalgic ’90s vulnerability.

Absurdist's Corner

The afterlife operates on an apparently immediate moral sorting system. Kindly lovers ascend in soft celestial glow, while petty criminals are seized by snarling shadow-demons who erupt from the street like cartoon Tasmanian Devils. No trial. No hearing. No paperwork. Judgment appears to be summary and theatrically loud.
