synopsis
After debris from a destroyed satellite tears through their shuttle, two astronauts—Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) and veteran Matt Kowalski (George Clooney)—are left stranded in orbit. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón, Gravity is less a traditional narrative and more a sustained cinematic experience. It’s immersive to the point of vertigo. The opening long take alone is a flex. But beneath the spectacle is something intimate: a story about grief and the will to keep going when there’s literally nothing to hold onto. It’s survival stripped to breath and heartbeat. In a theater, it’s overwhelming. At home, it’s still gripping.
A dark room. No distractions. A reminder that your bad day probably isn’t orbital debris-level bad.

Orbital mechanics are treated like a cosmic pinball machine—everything conveniently within reach if you just propel yourself hard enough. Also, space apparently runs on the narrative rule of “one more thing will go wrong.”
