“I am a great magician… your clothes are red!”

synopsis

A man seeks revenge against a villain named Master Pain (a.k.a. Betty). The film is built from an old martial arts movie digitally altered and redubbed with absurd new dialogue and inserted characters.

mini-review

This one is divisive. Written and directed by Steve Oedekerk, it’s intentionally juvenile and proudly stupid.

When it lands, it’s deliriously weird. When it doesn’t, it feels like a sketch stretched to feature length. The joke is often simply that the dubbing is ridiculous.

If you’re in the right mood? You’ll laugh uncontrollably.
If you’re not? It’s a long 81 minutes.

Very late night viewing.

Friends who appreciate aggressively stupid humor.

Zero expectations.
