“Marriage wasn’t part of my homework tonight!”

synopsis

Boeun is a spirited high school student whose biggest concerns are friends, homework, and the boy she secretly likes. Her life is turned upside down when her grandfather reveals a decades-old promise: she must marry Sang-min, a college student who once saved the grandfather’s life. The reluctant newlyweds try to keep the marriage secret while Boeun continues attending school, but balancing teenage life and married life proves nearly impossible.

mini-review

My Little Bride is one of those romantic comedies built on a completely absurd premise—but somehow it works. The film leans into the awkwardness of the situation with plenty of comedic misunderstandings and youthful energy. What keeps it from feeling creepy or ridiculous is the charm of the performances, particularly Moon Geun-young as the exasperated teenager forced into adulthood far too soon. The result is a sweet, slightly chaotic story about growing up and discovering that love sometimes arrives in the most unexpected arrangements.

Sweet snacks, soda, and the nostalgic feeling of young love mixed with total teenage chaos.

Absurdist's Corner

The school scenes require the audience to accept that a married girl can somehow keep this secret from classmates, teachers, and nosy teenagers who normally detect gossip faster than radar.
