mini-review

This is anime for adults in the most unsettling sense. Satoshi Kon constructs a psychological thriller that weaponizes editing and perspective. Scenes repeat with subtle alterations. Reality fractures without warning. Long before social media discourse, the film dissected celebrity commodification and parasocial obsession. It’s tight, disturbing, and still feels modern.

A late-night viewing when you’re ready to feel slightly unsettled about fame and identity.

Absurdist's Corner

A pop star questioning her sanity… while a literal version of herself floats around mocking her.
