mini-review

Based on the story by Carlo Collodi, Pinocchio is widely regarded as one of Disney’s greatest artistic achievements. The animation is astonishingly detailed, and the film balances warmth, humor, and genuine danger in ways few family films attempt. From the terrifying Pleasure Island sequence to the tender relationship between Geppetto and Pinocchio, the movie remains emotionally powerful decades after its release.

A nostalgic movie night, hot chocolate or popcorn, and appreciation for one of animation’s true classics.

Absurdist's Corner

Pinocchio’s nose grows whenever he lies, which raises the obvious question: why not just tell one enormous lie and build yourself a permanent ladder?

fun facts

  • The song “When You Wish Upon a Star” became the signature anthem of Disney.

  • The film won two Academy Awards, including Best Original Song and Best Score.

  • The animation team studied real marionettes and children’s movements to make Pinocchio’s motion believable.
