mini-review
Stephen Chow blends martial arts, sports comedy, and cartoonish visual effects into one of the most exuberantly ridiculous sports films ever made. The movie embraces its absurdity completely—players leap through the air, bend physics, and unleash soccer kicks that behave like missiles. Beneath the lunacy, however, lies a charming underdog story about perseverance and friendship.
A lively group of friends, plenty of snacks, and anyone willing to embrace joyful cinematic nonsense.
Absurdist's Corner
Soccer balls frequently burst into flames and travel like rockets, yet referees somehow allow the game to continue.
