mini-review

M. Night Shyamalan builds this thriller around a clever premise: a serial killer trapped inside a stadium surrounded by police. The film plays like a tense cat-and-mouse puzzle as the killer attempts to outmaneuver the massive security operation closing in around him. Josh Hartnett delivers a surprisingly strong performance, balancing charm and menace as the situation spirals into increasingly risky improvisation. It’s not high art, but it’s a fun, suspenseful ride.

Popcorn and a crowd—this is a high-concept thriller that’s best enjoyed when you’re in the mood for a tense but entertaining ride.

Absurdist's Corner

A stadium sting operation involving thousands of police officers and concertgoers might be the most elaborate way imaginable to catch a single suspect—but it certainly makes for great suspense.
