mini-review
Directed by Ron Howard and produced by George Lucas, Willow plays like a classic fantasy quest filtered through the spirit of Star Wars. The movie balances adventure, humor, and heart, anchored by a charming performance from Warwick Davis and scene-stealing swagger from Val Kilmer as Madmartigan. Though occasionally goofy, it has the kind of earnest storytelling that makes it a beloved cult favorite.
A bowl of popcorn, a comfortable couch, and the nostalgic pleasure of a good old-fashioned fantasy adventure.
Absurdist's Corner
Madmartigan spends half the movie imprisoned, drunk, or tied up, yet somehow still ends up being the most effective warrior in the entire kingdom.
